Overview

The Manager of Grants Accounting is accountable for collecting and accounting for all grant funding received by Ampact including federal, state and private funding This includes ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of fund collection and financial reporting. 

 

  • Grant Management Responsibilities: The manager ensures that all grant funding is appropriately spent and accounted for, while also overseeing compliance with financial regulations such as GAAP and OMB guidelines. This involves analyzing budget performance and collaborating with the finance and program teams.

     

    Budgeting and Reporting: The position includes providing guidance for AmeriCorps budgets and reviewing match budgets to ensure all requirements are met. Additionally, the manager is responsible for revenue reporting and maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities

  1. Accountable for Grant Spending (70%)  
  • Ensure the appropriate spending of grant funds. 
  • Generate, analyze and report budget to actual performance for individual grants; work with program or finance staff to ensure all funding is appropriately spent 
  • Communicate with other accounting teams regarding changes to grant coding to ensure funds are being utilized and allocated appropriately. 
  • Maximize cash flow by developing processes and procedures to ensure timely submission of grant collections and reports. 
  • Review and approve financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants. 
  • Ensure compliance with all financial grant requirements, including federal OMB regulations, 2 CFR 200 and any grant specific requirements.  
  • Direct, train, mentor and review the work of Grants Accountants 
  • Oversee invoicing of site fees, technical assistance and other grant match collections. 

 

  1. Budgeting (15%):  
  • Provide guidance to Financial Analyst in the development of AmeriCorps budgets, to ensure appropriate budget dollars by category and to meet match requirements. 
  • Review and approve match budgets to both ensure match requirements are met, and funding can be fully utilized. 
  • Provide input for program reforecasting. 
  • Review budget match forecasts to ensure any budget amendments are completed as needed. 
  • Work with staff in planning new programs and grant development.  

 

  1. Oversee Grant Accounting Processes (10%):  
  • Accountable for revenue reporting, ensuring that revenue is recorded and classified according to GAAP and FASB requirements. 
  • Report accurate and timely revenue projections and actuals to Assistant Controller/Controller.  
  • Responsible for maintaining net assets balances and reporting to management, identifying restricted vs unrestricted funds. 
  • Collaborate with accounting staff to create and maintain appropriate cost allocations  
  • Complete required tasks for year-end audit and other financial monitoring. 

 

  1. Miscellaneous (5%):  
  • Perform special projects or assignments as directed. 

Qualifications

Minimum Education 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business or related field 

Minimum Experience 

  • Minimum five years of relevant grant, non-profit, or fund accounting experience. 
  • Experience with government and private grant reporting and fund accounting methodologies  
  • Demonstrated competence in financial analysis, complex problem solving, staff supervision, and process improvement. 
  • Knowledge of 2 CFR, FASB, and GAAP. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel 
  • Knowledge of databases and accounting for computer application systems.  
  • Oracle NetSuite experience is a plus. 
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, evolving environment. 
  • Proactive, self-directed individual motivated to continually evaluate and improve processes and procedures. 
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, time management and organization skills.  
  • Proven leadership skills. 
  • Must have the ability to travel locally, statewide and nationally to attend meetings
