Overview

The Grants Accountant prepares accurate and timely financial reporting for assigned grants. This role ensures compliance with grant requirements, AmeriCorps regulations, OMB/2 CFR200, GAAP, FASB standards, applicable laws, and internal controls. Strict confidentiality of all accounting, payroll, employee, member, and organizational information is required. 

 

Must be located in one of the following states - Minnesota, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Mississippi, New York, Virginia or Wisconsin 

Responsibilities

 

Grant Financial Management

  • Manage the financial administration of government, AmeriCorps, corporate, and foundation grants.
  • Prepare accurate reimbursement requests, invoices, and financial reports in compliance with funder requirements.
  • Monitor grant budgets, spending trends, forecasts, and revenue recognition; proactively address variances and risks.
  • Partner with program leadership on grant planning, budget modifications, spend-down strategies, and audit support.

Grant Compliance & Stewardship

  • Interpret grant agreements and ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), funder requirements, and internal policies.
  • Review expenditures for allowability, allocability, reasonableness, and proper coding.
  • Reconcile grant expenditures to the general ledger and maintain complete, accurate financial records.
  • Identify compliance risks, recommend corrective actions, and safeguard confidential financial and grant documentation.

Qualifications

Qualifications 

Minimum Education 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

Minimum Experience  

  • 3+ years of professional accounting experience.
  • 2+ years of government grant accounting experience, including federal or state grants.
  • Experience preparing grant reimbursement requests, financial reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Working knowledge of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), GAAP, and nonprofit fund accounting.
  • Experience using NetSuite or a comparable ERP/accounting system.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical ability, and organizational skills
